OLLI at 91社区 Jupiter Announces Spring Course Schedule
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 91社区 in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the spring semester, which begins Thursday, March 10. Registration is now open.
Taught by 91社区 professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute provides seasoned adults the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.
Spring one-time lectures, performances and courses will take place online and in-person in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at 91社区鈥檚 John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., and include:

On Monday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m., 鈥淥bjection! Current Contentious and Confusing Legal Issues,鈥 presented by Irving Labovitz, a lawyer admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as multiple federal appellate and trial courts. This four-week course focuses on selected current, highly publicized, volatile and contentious legal and constitutional issues presented in cases pending before federal and state trial courts as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Tuesday, March 22 at 1 p.m., 鈥淕ermany and Israel: A Story of Guilt and an Unlikely Friendship,鈥 presented by Anette Isaacs, an OLLI instructor who lectures on the topics pertaining to German history, culture, politics, and society. This one-time lecture discusses how Germany has attempted to cope with the guilt of causing the Holocaust and how this painful, but necessary process, heralded a new era in German-Israeli relations.

On Tuesday, March 29 at noon, 鈥淔rom Ordinary to Extraordinary: Looking at Art through the Eyes and Mind of an Artist,鈥 presented by Deborah Bigelesien, an artist whose vision of the floral genre embodies private and corporate collections worldwide. This one-time lecture will be a virtual tour of modern and contemporary art in museums, galleries and international art fairs.

On Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m., 鈥淭he Greenwich Village Music Scene of the 60s,鈥 presented by Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowan, a singing duo known as PinkSlip Duo. This one-time performance will retrace the steps of folk and folk-rock legends and the iconic locales of New York鈥檚 Greenwich Village in the 1950s.

On Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m., 鈥淧iano Works: European Romantics to American Ragtime: At the Piano with Women Composers,鈥 presented by Yoko Sata Kothari, an award-winning pianist. This musical performance features piano music composed by women composures, from romantic to ragtime.

On Wednesday, Apr. 27 at noon, 鈥淕etting Older Can Be Tougher Than We Thought: What We Thought We Knew But Didn鈥檛,鈥 presented by Scott Greenberg, CAEd鈩, CEO of ComForcare Senior Services, an award-winning author of 鈥淥h My God, I鈥檓 Getting Older and So is My Mom,鈥 and a host of a weekly radio show with the same title. This one-time lecture will discuss subjects relating to health and wellness that many older individuals are not prepared for, such as long-term and medical care.
- On Wednesday, Apr. 27 at 1 p.m., 鈥淢anatee Lagoon 鈥 An FPL Eco-Discovery Center Excursion,鈥 presented by Manatee Lagoon. This one-time eco-discovery excursion will include a tour of the facility and presentation discussing FPL鈥檚 environmental mission of educating the public about the relationship it has with manatees and inspiring individuals to preserve and protect Florida鈥檚 environment and wildlife.
