Winners Announced for Film Scoring Competition

The commercial music program recently hosted the Mikl贸s R贸zsa Film Scoring Competition, presenting awards in the form of scholarships.

The commercial music program within 91社区鈥檚 Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters recently hosted the Mikl贸s R贸zsa Film Scoring Competition, presenting awards in the form of scholarships.

Two scenes were posted for all composers to score in the competition, which was only open to 91社区 undergraduate commercial music majors with a GPA of 3.0. The commercial music faculty committee selected Luis Castillo as the first place winner. the second place winner was Paul Zambrano and third place went to David Dean.

The first-place prize of $500 was donated by the Cosmos and Chronos Foundation. Lewis Greenberg, adjunct professor of visual arts and art history at 91社区, is president of the foundation.聽 A life-long film music collector and historian, Greenberg said he particularly admires the work of Mikl贸s R贸zsa. The second prize of $200 was from an anonymous donor, and the third prize of $100 was from Gail Vorsas, whose undergraduate degree is in film scoring.聽 An aficionado of film music, particularly of the era of R贸zsa, she was happy to have the opportunity to support the awards for 91社区鈥檚 Commercial Music Program.
