91社区 to Host Events in Honor of Black History Month
91社区 will celebrate Black History Month with a series of events throughout the month of February at its Boca Raton, Jupiter and Davie campuses. The events are sponsored by 91社区鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs.
The following events will be held on 91社区鈥檚 Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road:
A Mural Salute to Historic African-Americans
Daily starting Thursday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m.
Social Sciences Building (SO 44), Suite 206
Student Union, Bulletin Board Outside of Suite 206
Learn about historical African-American pioneers with a progressive display highlighting abolitionists, kings and queens and other prominent African-Americans who contributed to making America great.
Flavors of Diversity: Soul Food
Monday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m.
Nations Multipurpose Room
Students will watch a live cooking demonstration and engage in a dialogue about the history of Soul food. Students will be able to engage in meaningful conversation on how food can serve as a preservation of culture that is passed from generation to generation.
Blazers & the Arts
Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.

Blazers & the Arts is an annual event sponsored by the 91社区 Chapter of Progressive Black Men, Inc. It celebrates the many contributions of African Americans to the arts while highlighting the talents of current 91社区 students.

This year's theme is "Redefine, Refocus and Reaffirm." Students will have an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and connect with others while unpacking what it means to be a male of color in a college environment.
鈥楤lack Panther鈥 Self-Defense
Monday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m.

Campus Recreation will celebrate the release of the 鈥淏lack Panther鈥 movie with a self-defense class inspired by the character鈥檚 security team. Students participating in the class will learn basic to intermediate self-defense techniques and have the opportunity to win prizes.

The Student Union Engagement Series celebrates Black History Month in partnership with City Year of Miami with a film screening of 鈥淎ll the Difference.鈥 This film documents two young black men as they navigate their lives in broken homes and low-income, high-risk communities in Chicago.
