91社区鈥檚 Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College senior Lauren Goldsworthy recently presented at the 18th International Conference on Marine Biology and Ecology (ICMBE) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.聽 Goldsworthy鈥檚 presentation, titled 鈥Abundance and Diversity of Crabs and Allies in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico,鈥 was based on research she conducted while attending 91社区 Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute鈥檚 (HBOI) spring 2015 Semester-by-the-Sea program.
鈥淚t was an incredible experience and a great way to practice public speaking skills and meet people in your field of research,鈥 said Goldsworthy. 鈥淚t was amazing to meet many leading researchers in the field of marine biology.鈥
ICMBE is part of a larger conference hosted by the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology and brings together leading research scholars and scientists from around the world to present and discuss trends, innovations, challenges and concerns in the field.聽
Wilkes Honors College students with science concentrations have unique opportunities to conduct research alongside the College鈥檚 faculty members, as well as intern at Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute of Neuroscience, and study at 91社区鈥檚 HBOI. Students of all concentrations have the chance to publish or present their research findings before the completion of their undergraduate careers. 91社区鈥檚 Student Government, Florida Power & Light, and other donors generously contribute to fund student participation at conferences around the globe.
